Saving and Loading is the mechanic that allows Pollon Takaoka to basically travel back in time.

The Hacking Trigger is a tool for the Observer to help him with his observation of the simulation. At the beginning of the story, Pollon got sent Beyond the Load Region and his observer, Anon, granted him access to use the Hacking Trigger. Pollon decided to call it Saving and Loading, comparing it to a similar manner in a video game.

The Saving & Loading screen is the same whenever Pollon or Anon decides to use it, but Anon's save data is superior to Pollon's. If Pollon would decide to use a save he made some time ago, for an example two weeks, he would suffer a major brain damage, where loading Anon's distant save wouldn't cause him any harm.

Trivia

• The Saving and Loading function is comparable to the Time Leap Machine mechanic from Steins;Gate. Pollon even hypothesizes that it's a “time leap”^[1].
• The Loading animation was first shown in 2016 and was completely different.
